I painted this Tiny Joy on my 64th birthday, celebrating another year, another chapter, and another chance to create, love, laugh, and notice the tiny joys all around me.
I am one of the small percentage of people who get to have two Moms celebrate their birthday. I was adopted at 6 months of age by the best parents a girl could hope for. I always knew I was adopted. I was told that it was a special gift to be doubly loved.
In 2018, my son found my birthmom while checking his DNA records. We met about a month later, and I learned that “Momma J” was an artist who had taught painting for 20 years. Our reunion and meeting my two half-sisters was one of the highlights of my life.
Birthdays have a way of reminding us just how many people have shaped our lives. I’m especially thankful for the two remarkable women who gave me the greatest gift of all… one gave me life, and one gave me a beautiful life.
